Mala is a handsome and charming thirty-year-old Black African British man born and bred in South London who has finally received a well-respected law degree after years of essays and painful study. Mala, after attending numerous interviews, tests and dreaded group interviews, just cannot land the job of his dreams. While Mala always had fond memories of dance, he'd put them to one side to pursue a more traditional ambition of reading law, practising, earning a wage and having a family.
Once Mala receives unwarranted financial advice from his less than sensible friend Passion, he is led down a dangerous path, falling into the twisted loan shark's path Cashman, while his crew is on the way up, there is only a matter before the Cashman aims to bring his entire business and his life down.
Mala uses his'danger money' to set up an Afrobeat group and holds open auditions to find the best talent to compete with against the area's favoured dance troop, ‘The Mango Crew', for a £100,000 prize. This declaration of'dance war' does not aid Mala's popularity and sours his relationship with the Mango Crew's leader Aje and puts his entire team at risk as Aje is known for not taking kindly to those take step on his turf.

The Afrobeat genre over the last few years has captivated and added another long limb to the Black British music industry.
The genre's power rhythms, melodic beat and spider- like tales evoke a sense of passion, fun and sensuality. A genre like this requires a master to tame it, to use to tell a story, to use the exuberant style to bring a sleepy community out of its slumber.

The film addresses family matters in the form of 14-year-old Nola who is recruited as part of Mala's crew. Despite her interest in dance and her astounding abilities her mother does not approve of this'wayward' lifestyle and would rather she too followed traditional ambition of nursing and marriage instead of seeking a life of video'whoredom.'

To complicate family life further, Mala falls in love with the beautiful Mahalia after an unpleasant incident, whose Jamaican parents loudly disapprove of and to make matters worse she is a dancer in the Mango Crew. It is this expected and to some, undesired love that spurs Mala through to becoming one of the finest leaders of a dance crew and clear his debt, whether he is successful or not, Mala is destined to dance or die.

Afro Beat aims to attract all audiences.

It is entertaining, educational and humorous and aims to give some attitude to the Azonto.

This is an Afrobeat dance film competition with dance battles between London's strongest Afrobeat teams in the same way as "Step Up" and "Street Dance" but this time with this exciting music style invading the world. The music in the movie will be focused on popular Afrobeat tunes from some musicians such as P-Square, Fuse ODG, Wizkid, Mista Silva, D'Banj, Tiwa Savage and more.

AFRO BEAT is a new concept and new dance feature film that promotes not only Afrobeat music and dance but also raises serious issues of unemployment of young people within the ethnic minority, racism and discrimination.
