Since 2003, the Berlin International Film Festival has encouraged young filmmakers from all over the world and all professional fields to apply to the Berlinale Talent Campus. Over 350 of them are invited to Berlin each year to reflect on their ideas about film in lectures, ateliers and panel discussions, and to work on their projects in specialized hands-on workshops.
September 2008
The Berlinale Talent Campus has a new Programme Manager: Matthijs Wouter Knol. Starting September 2008, he will be responsible for the general direction of the Campus, in collaboration with Christine Tröstrum, who has been part of the Campus management team since 2004.
Dorothee Wenner, who directed the previous two editions of the Campus, will dedicate more time to filmmaking and film production in the future. She will remain close to the Berlinale: as a member of the selection committee for the Forum, as a delegate for sub-Saharan Africa and India, as well as in the curation of the programme for the Berlinale Talent Campus #7.
Campus Abroad
Each year, the Campus has a motto which serves as an overriding theme to structure the programme and to focus on a special angle of current affairs in the international film industry, appealing hopefully to Talents and Experts alike. Of course, emotions and cinema are a classical topic, yet of late there has been a renewed interest by film theorists in the subject partly related to discoveries in the field of scientific brain research.
